People love music. So much so, that in 1894 the Village Council voted to give $100 for the St. Joseph Cornet Band to play weekly concerts in a special band stand erected across the Village Hall. The Village Hall also used to serve as a dance hall where people could come enjoy music and dancing. Our museum contains great photos from many of the talented and original performers from our area, including the well-known polka band, The Deutschmeisters.

The quilters of St. Joseph started as a Mission group to donate quilts for the 4th of July celebration. They originally would sell chances for a raffle. Raffle chances are no longer available but the quilters are still hard at it. Every year they donate multiple quilts to the St. Joseph church and they are auctioned off to the highest bidder. They provide an invaluable charity with their meticulous labor and each year we look forward to viewing their creativity.

Saloons have been the hosts to many types of entertainments over the years. Some saloons used to serve food to bring people in where they could enjoy a few games of cards, great conversation, and a couple cocktails. At times, people would all sing popular songs together. Many different locations have been available to St. Joseph residents including the Delwin, who hosted many choice bands, and the El Paso, that includes bowling and volleyball.
